THE VICTORY

Silence,
TV shrieks,
Voices break,
Breaths held in awe
Reporter fiddles
Mudslide wins,
Non marginal errors
The winds of change begin
Minds begin to change
Fatigued ministers put old pictures away
New brooms will sweep clean

Up and downtown
The guilt scales are brought down
Burnt tires taken off the roads
Stick and stones,
Posters of striking posterity,
The dregs of society
Charred victory emancipations
Politicians sigh at each other
The army looks desolate
The coroner’s house lies empty
The garrison basks in crude daylight
Police cells are shaved clean
We sing the victory song tonight
